Original drawings

00. Can I buy an original drawing online?

Should you be interested in purchasing one of my originals, I would be delighted to discuss things further if you kindly let me know your requirements via email.

01. How can I get to see the physical artwork rather than just an on-screen image?

If you want to see the artwork for yourself, you might like to visit one of my exhibitions, schedules for which can be viewed at Exhibitions. To stay regularly informed, clients can request a free bi-annual Newsletter (distributed by post or email), containing updates on forthcoming exhibitions, latest drawings and special offers by emailing me and ticking the box to request the Newsletter.

02. Do you do commissions?

Yes, I am delighted to accept wildlife and pet portrait commissions. For more information, please email me and I will be happy to discuss it with you further.

03. How long does it take to complete one of your drawings?

This is very difficult to gauge as it takes numerous sessions to complete a picture. In general, most of my drawings are completed within four weeks, though this can vary considerably depending on the size and complexity of each image.

04. Do you work in colour media, as well as pencil?

Whilst I have enjoyed experimenting with oil paints and chalk pastels in the past, I now prefer to work exclusively in pencil. I find it allows me more flexibility to achieve a broad range of textures without compromising on detail. I also relish the challenge of trying to conjure a three-dimensional image from a two-dimensional platform, and using a monochrome medium ensures the focus rests on the underlying form of my subjects, rather than their surface colours.

05. Do you do drawing demonstrations or offer tuition?

I have, on occasion, done public drawing demonstrations at galleries where my work was being exhibited. This depends, of course, on my availability to attend the venue in question. All details of forthcoming exhibitions and demonstrations can be viewed at Exhibitions. I do not currently offer drawing tuition due to my wildlife conservation commitments.

Prints

00. Who produces your prints?

My giclee prints are produced and mounted by Fine Art Printers and Framers “End of the Pier” who can be contacted at jim@endofthepier.com or Unit 14, Weybourne Road industrial Estate, Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8HF. Enlarged stretch-framed box canvas prints are produced by large format graphic specialists, “Fusion Digital Print” who can be contacted at adrian@fusiondigitalprint.com or Unit 21, Pilsworth Way, Bury, BL9 8RE.

01. How do I know that the print is authentic?

Every print is signed personally by the artist.

02. How are your prints made?

All of my prints (giclee and stretch-framed box canvas) are individually produced, using high-resolution, high-fidelity reproductions of unparalleled quality.

03. How does the quality of a giclée print compare with more traditional methods?

Giclée printing is recognised by the Fine Arts Trade Guild as a medium of the very highest quality for producing art reproductions. The process is far superior to lithography (traditionally used for high volume, low cost reproductions) in several ways:

The substrates on which the images can be printed are more varied, thicker and stronger.

  • Prints are of such high-resolution that they deliver virtually continuous tone, rather than tiny dots.
  • The tonal range is far beyond that of lithography.
  • Giclée prints are produced directly from a digital file, ensuring details retain the highest level of crispness often compromised during the lithographic printing process, which instead uses negatives and printing plates.

04. What materials are used in producing your prints?

To create my giclee prints, End of the Pier use 100% Cotton Rag, Acid-free High White Fine Art Paper, accredited by the Fine Art Trade Guild, as well as excellent light-fast Epson Ultrachrome inks. To create the stretch-framed box canvas prints, Fusion DP use a 415g heavyweight canvas, printed in full colour and stretched onto a 44mm wooden frame.

When kept under the correct conditions the prints should last a lifetime without any perceptible deterioration in tone or clarity.

05. How many prints do you produce per Edition?

Prints are produced either as Open Editions (no limit on the number of prints produced) or Limited Editions (prints produced cannot exceed a certain number). For the latter, editions are limited to either 50 or 500 prints, depending on the particular image. The edition size for each image is clearly stated in my online galleries. I do, however, reserve the right to reproduce all images without limitation for display purposes only.

06. Can I order prints to be produced at different sizes?

Open and Limited Edition giclee prints are reproduced at one fixed size only, approximately 40 x 50cm. Dimensions for each image are clearly stated in my online galleries. Larger prints can be ordered (up to a maximum size of approximately 150 x 100cm) as stretch-framed box canvases.

07. Are the prints mounted?

To present giclee prints to you in the best way possible and to give them more protection in transit, they are all professionally mounted by End of the Pier prior to dispatch.

08. Can I choose the mount myself?

Unfortunately, to keep our site as simple and user-friendly as possible, we can only offer one standard type and colour of mount for giclee prints. This also ensures that prints can be mounted and dispatched to you in the shortest time possible. However, you can rest assured that the mount style has been carefully chosen by myself and End of the Pier’s expert framing staff to provide the perfect complement to my drawing style and tone.

09. What sort of mounts do you use?

All prints are mounted to the highest quality standards, using subtle off-white conservation mount board specially selected to complement the image and offer excellent colour-fast durability.

10. Can I have my print framed as well as mounted?

Whilst End of the Pier does offer a broad-ranging, professional bespoke framing service, it is not currently possible to order framed prints online due primarily to the complicated logistics of delivering such delicate goods to you safely and reliably. This is, however, a facility we intend to offer in future if there is sufficient demand. Should you require any advice on how best to frame your print, please feel free to contact either myself or End of the Pier.

Orders

00. How do I place an order for prints on www.cwright.co.uk?

The following 4-step guide outlines how you can purchase a mounted print from this site:

  1. Once you’ve browsed my galleries and found a drawing you wish to purchase, simply click on the Paypal button at the bottom of the image to launch the order process.
  2. Sign in with your Paypal username and password. If you don’t already have a Paypal account, you can create one. This will be the only time you need to enter your details.
  3. Confirm your delivery and payment information by simply clicking the “Place your order now” button. You can also decide on a Payment Method, Delivery Address and at this point whether or not you want to receive promotional emails from the Paypal site
  4. Once you’ve completed your order you can track its progress in your Paypal Account. Should you need to contact us regarding a particular order please quote the Order Number which is displayed in the Order Confirmation email you will have been sent on submission of your order.

01. How are payments processed on your site?

All payments made on our site are processed using Paypal ™ – one of the very safest ways to make online payments.

02. How can I pay?

We accept payment by major credit and debit cards, including VISA, VISA Electron, MasterCard, Switch/Maestro, and Solo.

03. When will I be charged?

We will not charge your credit or debit card until we confirm your order. You will be notified of this in an Order Confirmation email.

04. Do you charge VAT or any other taxes?

VAT will not be charged. Please note, however, that some countries may impose import duties on deliveries from the UK. Customers are responsible for paying any applicable customs duties or taxes that may be imposed on a delivery in the destination country.

05. Why can I only order multiples of one particular print, but not a variety of different prints?

Unfortunately, our site only has capacity for a relatively simple e-commerce system at present, and I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Should there be a greater demand for a more comprehensive basket system that would allow clients to purchase a variety of different prints per order, then we would consider implementing this facility in the future. Please do contact us if you would like to see such a system on the site in the future.

06. What happens if you are out of stock of the prints I want?

Every effort is made to ensure that all of the prints shown on the site are readily available. Occasionally, however, a particular item may be temporarily out of stock. In this case you will be informed of the situation, so that you can decide whether you would like to proceed with the order for only those items in-stock.

Returns and cancellations

00. Can I cancel my order?

You can cancel your order at any time prior to dispatch by sending us an email with ‘Order Cancellation’ in the subject line, remembering to quote your order number in full.

01. What can I do if I am unhappy with the goods on receipt?

We are proud of the quality product we offer, and we strive to ensure our customers are entirely satisfied with their purchase. If, for any reason, the print doesn’t live up to your expectations, we will give you a full refund for the product/s purchased, on condition that you:

  1. inform us of your decision to cancel in writing (either to chriswrightart@gmail.com or Tanglewood, Barhatch Road, Cranleigh, Surrey, GU6 7DJ) within 7 working days after receipt AND
  2. return it to End of the Pier, Unit 14, Weybourne Road Industrial Estate, Sheringham, Norfolk, NR26 8HF in perfect condition (carefully repacked in the original packaging) together with the original invoice within 14 days after receipt.

02. Do I get a full refund?

If the order is delivered damaged or in error, we will refund the full amount paid, including outward and return delivery charges within 30 days from receipt of the returned goods. For returns for any other reason, we will refund only the product price, excluding all delivery charges. Please visit our Terms and Conditions of Supply for more information on our cancellations and returns policy. Please note that this Returns Policy only applies to prints, and excludes commissions.

Please also note that we offer this refund service in good faith and ask that you only return goods after careful thought and with genuine necessity. Our service is not intended to enable people to deliberately over-order so that they can view a selection of prints with the intention of keeping some and returning others, and we ask that you respect this.

03. Can I exchange my goods for something else?

We are only able to offer replacement goods of the same image in exchange for returns where they have been delivered damaged, incorrectly or late. If you wish to order a different print as a replacement for unwanted or damaged goods, please place a new order on the website.

04. How do I make a complaint or offer feedback?

We value our customers very highly, and we want to do our utmost to ensure your satisfaction as well as preserve our reputation. If for any reason you have a complaint or feedback about our services or products, please write to us either at chriswrightart@gmail.com or Tanglewood, Barhatch Road, Cranleigh, Surrey, GU6 7DJ, and we will do our very best to rectify the situation. We aim to respond to all complaints within 5 working days.
