Titus, the silverback Mountain Gorilla, featured in a BBC TV documentary charting the remarkable history of the oldest known patriarch of his kind. The photograph that inspired this drawing was taken by my Born Free colleague and renowned primatologist, Ian Redmond OBE, who studied the gorillas under Dian Fossey. It was drawn in the UN Year of the Gorilla, of which Ian was Ambassador, and I am honoured, and very grateful to Ian for allowing me to commemorate such a charismatic, emblematic individual.
