"Titus"

Titus, the silverback Mountain Gorilla, recently featured in a TV documentary charting the remarkable history of the oldest known patriarch of his kind. The photograph that inspired this drawing was taken by my Born Free colleague and renowned primatologist, Ian Redmond OBE, who studied the gorillas under Dian Fossey. It is fitting that in this, the UN Year of the Gorilla, of which Ian is Ambassador, I should complete my first gorilla drawing - and I am honoured, and very grateful to Ian for allowing me to commemorate such a charismatic, emblematic individual.
